MCoOL Announces the Minnesota Volunteer Project (MVP)
MCoOL is excited to announce our new state-wide volunteer project, and we're calling it the Minnesota Volunteer Project (MVP).
On Thursday, December 4, 2008 we invited MCoOL students, their family and friends, along with our MCoOL teachers, to participate in a few hours of valuable service to the community.
Our inaugural MVP was held in partnership with the Minnesota Literacy Council, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving literacy throughout our state. Elementary schools located in Minneapolis and Shakopee simultaneously hosted our one-day events, where volunteers read with students in grades K-3.
MVP was a great way for MCoOL to kickoff a course elective called Community Enrichment. MCoOL is now offering this elective which offers students valuable course credit for participating in local community volunteer projects. Students will earn credit by accruing 90 hours of volunteering in local projects of their choice. Learn more now about the Community Enrichment elective.
How can you participate or support this volunteer event? If you want to inquire about future volunteer events, contact us by email at mvp [at] mcool [dot] org or call Kelly Beckman at 877-984-7587, option 4.
